(Sunday, November 2 at 9:00pm ET/PT) — When the biggest naval armada in US history descended on the Japanese island of Okinawa in April of 1945, the result was called a “Typhoon of Steel.” It was supposed to be a swift victory for the Americans.  Instead, it became the bloodiest battle of the Pacific, drawn out for over three months, with thousands more dead on both sides than in both post-atomic Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. But the battle wasn’t just on land, it was underneath it – from the beehive of combat tunnels where American forces faced down the entrenched Japanese Army, to the caves where thousands of civilians hid and hundreds perished. In this episode, Don Wildman discovers what it was like to live through the Battle of Okinawa. Hey there.  Ever been to Mongolia?  Most of us probably haven’t.  But a boy I once taught to speak English did and he sent me a few pictures.  Enjoy!

I thought these were pretty cool pictures.  The young man on the horse is the one I taught English while he was in elementary school.  Glad to see he grew up so well as it has been 11 years since I’ve seen him.

Ok.  The election is coming up and most of us are in the same boat.  We don’t want either one of the people running.  I want to vote for Nobody.  Ever seen the western? (link below).

Can’t vote for McCain because he’s unrealistic about us ever leaving Iraq even though the job of eliminiating Saddam was done years ago, has no clue about the economy, and chose Miss Congeniality as his running mate.  While she may be fun to watch and I’m sure we’d have a great time playing darts together at the local bar, I’m not ready for McCain’s rickety self to fall over dead and leave her running the country.

And Obama.  He’s a great speaker and actor.  But you can’t tell me that he is going to do all the things he’s going to do and it won’t mean taxes out the ying yang.  They may not be directly on you and I, but when he’s taxing corporations like crazy, where do you think they go to make up that money?  They raise the prices that YOU AND I PAY.  So, we may not get a tax increase, but we’ll pay either way.

So, how do we not vote for either one?  I wish we had something like they do in other countries where we can simply give a no confidence vote and the two parties have to put up someone else.  Until they pick and we vote again, the Congress can keep passing bills and they will just sit and wait for the new leader.
